Context and Goal
CARRIS is developing an innovative digital solution for real-time fleet monitoring, enabling the tracking of route performance, punctuality metrics, and stop congestion across Lisbon.
Challenges
- Collecting and processing large volumes of real-time geolocation data.
 - Providing clear, interactive visualisations of fleet and route status.
 - Building a robust, scalable data model to support predictive analytics and AI.
 
Solution
Leveraging the xtranpassengerapi system, which provides GPS data for all buses in circulation every 30 seconds, agap2IT is developing a tool that:
- Displays interactive maps highlighting congestion across city areas.
 - Shows the real-time position of every bus in the fleet.
 - Analyses punctuality metrics by route and stop.
 - Compares real versus scheduled positions based on the timetable.
 
The extensive dataset generated and stored also lays the foundation for predictive AI models to forecast punctuality and optimise routes, incorporating external factors such as weather events.
