Context and Goal
The Banco Angolano de Investimento (BAI) sought to expand access to its financial services by creating an innovative digital platform designed for both agents and clients. The goal was to simplify core banking operations and democratise access to digital services in the Angolan market.
Challenges
- Developing tailored solutions for agents and clients, ensuring usability and security across both channels.
- Integrating essential banking functions into a single system: account opening and unlocking, transfers, deposits, withdrawals, payments, and currency conversion.
- Delivering reliable solutions on different platforms (mobile for agents, web for clients).
Solution
With over 4,000 hours of analysis and implementation, the agap2IT (DXSpark) team developed two complementary applications:
- Android App for Agents: enabling customer registration and management, account unlocking, transfers, deposits, withdrawals, currency conversion into electronic money and vice versa, as well as payments for goods and services.
- Web Application for Clients: allowing data management, account unlocking, transfers, deposits, withdrawals, currency conversion into electronic money and vice versa, and digital payments.
Results and Impact
- Expanded access to BAI’s financial services through digital channels.
- Increased convenience and autonomy for both clients and agents.
- Significant contribution to the digital transformation of the Angolan banking sector.
- Delivery of a secure, scalable platform adapted to the local context and future growth.
